Join Sussex Contemporary’s Creative Director, Jo Myles, for a face-to-face portfolio review during THE SUSSEX 2026: SHELTER. Jo has been mentoring since 2012, bringing experience in artist development, exhibition curation, artwork sales and institutional partnerships.
Your review focuses on a selection of up to 10 artworks. Together, you’ll consider the strengths of your work, connections across your portfolio and how your selection and presentation communicate your practice.
You might be preparing for an exhibition, putting together an application, approaching galleries or seeking direction for a developing body of work. Bring a specific goal or question so we can focus the conversation on what will be most useful to you.
You’ll leave with agreed actions tailored to your work and priorities, with a brief written summary sent after the session.
Open to artists and makers at all stages. You don’t need to have entered or been selected for THE SUSSEX 2026.

Each portfolio review lasts 30 minutes and costs £50.

Bring up to 10 artworks as images on a charged tablet or laptop, or in a printed portfolio. Choose work that relates to the question or goal you’d like to explore.
Please arrive five minutes before your appointment and let the exhibition team know you’re here for a portfolio review. Sessions take place in a separate area within the exhibition venue.
During your review, you’ll discuss your work with Jo and agree practical next steps. A brief written summary of your agreed actions will follow by email.
