Medium: 18ct yellow gold and vitreous enamel

Inspired by the arts and crafts movement discovered at Standen, and the head, hand and heart motto.
In my home workshop, working with 18ct yellow gold, I formed a three-dimensional pierced out heart cage. Using the plique-à-jour technique to showcase the stained glass translucency of enamel, the piece was fired in my kiln, which allowed the red enamel to flow around the heart interior, giving the vibrant colour suspended in the gold framework.
The pendant was finished with an 18ct yellow gold Singapore chain.
The exhibition runs until 30 September. Once a purchase has been completed, buyers may choose either to collect their artwork free of charge from Standen House on 2 October, or to have the work professionally packed, insured and couriered by Sussex Contemporary. Delivery charges vary according to the size, weight and value of each artwork and are detailed on the individual product page before purchase.
