34. ‘I run through Spring and Spring runs through me’ by Sarah Rickard

£545.00

Catalogue number: 34

Artist: Sarah Rickard

Title: ‘I run through Spring and Spring runs through me’

Medium: Ceramic oval dish

Dimensions: 4.5 x 29 x 24

The hare has plants entwined behind and through its body showing a deep connection to the natural world. I felt it was a modern take on the Arts & Crafts movements appreciation for nature.

This piece depicts a hare running through ferns and spring foliage. The plants and the hare merge and become one entity, a comment on how animals are more connected to nature than we are and how important it is that we reconnect and don't see ourselves as separate from the natural world.
I painted this oval bowl with black slip and scratched into the piece with sgraffito tools giving it a timeless, woodcut look.

The exhibition runs until 30 September. Once a purchase has been completed, buyers may choose either to collect their artwork free of charge from Standen House on 2 October, or to have the work professionally packed, insured and couriered by Sussex Contemporary. Delivery charges vary according to the size, weight and value of each artwork and are detailed on the individual product page before purchase.
