This is one of a series of bird woodcuts depicting birds in their everyday environment. Although not designed as an illustration, the process of distilling the natural forms to simple flat shapes, required by the technique, brings to mind early twentieth-century book illustration.
Purchased artworks will remain on display as part of the exhibition until it closes on 30 September. Buyers may then choose either to collect their artwork free of charge from Standen House on 2 October, or to have the work professionally packed, insured, and couriered by Sussex Contemporary. Courier dispatches will commence from 7 October. Delivery charges vary according to the size, weight, and value of each artwork and are detailed on the individual product page.
