The Rushes Remember
Photo Abstract, Limited Edition Giclée Print
Dimensions: 2 x 44 x 54cm
Artist’s statement
Once built to shelter and defend, wartime coastal defence structures now offer shelter to a different kind of life. Reeds, grasses and birds occupy spaces shaped by conflict, while the concrete holds traces of a fading human memory. These images explore shelter as something that changes over time — from protection and defence to refuge, habitat and a quiet holding place for the past.
This image is from a series called “Slow Forgetting”.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
