Miracle Julie
Gouache and photographic print on paper
Dimensions: 42 x 59.7 x 1cm
Artist’s statement
Miracle Julie is a concept for a public installation. It unites two shelters: a retired fishing boat on Deal beach and Canterbury Cathedral's Miracle Windows. Julie once protected her crew at sea; the cathedral, whose nave takes its name from the ship, sheltered pilgrims seeking healing. Julie is reimagined with stained glass windows, transforming a working vessel into a shoreline sanctuary, a place to pause between pilgrimage and tourism, the sacred and the everyday.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
