33. Ella Blower – What the Pomegranate Remembered

£975.00

Ella Blower

What the Pomegranate Remembered

Oil on canvas

Dimensions: 90cm x 120cm x 2cm

Artist’s statement

The body is a shelter that protects our survival. When sexual violence violates its boundaries, where does the mind wander? My painting confronts this aftermath when the mind considers the body as an abjected ‘other.’ Symbolism shows the bodies fragmented boundaries laid out for consumption and contamination. Saturated colours reject quiet victimhood, portraying the struggle for shelter as a volatile battle for ownership over a body that feels foreign, instead of a place of sanctuary.

All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.

Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.

For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
