Artist’s statement
This painting is about me and my daughter. It holds two mothers, one asleep unaware of how fast her child is slipping into a world too old for them, while the other is wrapped around as a quiet but alert shelter against time itself. The concept of shelter here is mirrored in the brushwork and composition, never fixed, drifting, crossing, imperfect, offered again and again. Not a failure to protect, but the space between, where shelter is rebuilt each time we return.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
