Sandra Camargo
Unveiled
Hand-carved Soapstone and Steel
Dimensions: 17 x 26 x 38
Artist’s statement
Unveiled explores shelter through the symbolism of the veil. A veil can provide protection and shelter, creating a physical and emotional barrier between the wearer and the outside world. However, it can also represent restriction, fear, obligation and a lack of choice. By showing the veil removed and resting on the steel, the work invites viewers to reflect on this moment of transition and the complex meanings carried by both the veil and its absence.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
