Colleen Conti
Mossy Brook
Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 65 x 65 x 4 cm
Artist’s statement
This painting is from a walk in June this year, during the first heatwave this Summer, the sun was fierce and the temperature was enervating. The deep shade of this wooded path offered shelter from the oppressive heat, the dense tree canopy made it pleasantly cool underneath, and the tinkling stream was refreshing. The sheltered location created a lush micro-climate where giant tree ferns, tender flora, and rare fauna flourished, a precious and vulnerable environment we must protect.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
