Jenia Demchenko
Undone
Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 60 x 50 x 2
Artist’s statement
Undone approaches shelter through openness and vulnerability, emerging as the boundary between self and the outside world becomes less secure. The work is built through a process of making, with each stage leaving visible traces in the final form. Marks and changes reveal the physical labour of its construction, exposing the work’s own vulnerability. These shifts create a tension between exposure and protection, reflecting shelter as a fragile and temporary emotional state.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
