Artist’s statement
My painting depicts the temporary structures that are used to protect market traders and their customers from the elements at a street market in South London, near to where I had a studio. I was interested in the ways the different fabrics formed an abstract pattern, and was also reminded of my childhood spent building similar shelters out of umbrellas and blankets.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
