Elaine Field
Hugged
Acrylic and collage on paper
Dimensions: 43, 53, 4.5
Artist’s statement
This abstract collage redefines shelter as an emotional sanctuary rather than a physical place. Created after losing a special friend, the piece uses layered, delicate papers and bold acrylic shapes to show how our lives are bound together. At its core is a collective hug. Our late friend’s expansive arms form a wide, protective canopy over a circle of friends. Within this embrace, we are shielded from the external storm of grief, drawing eternal strength and comfort from his immense warmth.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
