Jackie Fretten
Galaxy Trees
Oil and collage on cotton rag paper laid on panel
Dimensions: 33 x 33 x 3.5cm
Artist’s statement
These paintings reflect memories of off-grid camping and the profound shift that happens a day or two after arrival; where anxiety dissipates and a deep sense of calm arrives.
Immersed in nature and drenched in vibrant greens, walking in moonlight, stargazing, I find an emotional refuge sheltered from the noise of modern life.
Scaling the compositions around oversized trees, alludes to their architectural magnificence and unique ability to make you feel beautifully small, yet entirely safe.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
