Jedediah Gainer
Crushed Beneath but not Forgotten
Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: 76cm x 101cm x2cm
Artist’s statement
Crushed beneath but not Forgotten depicts a painting of Mexico City’s cathedral, viewed from the city’s main square. In this work I’m interested in how a building can be a shelter in more than one way, as it can be a shelter simultaneously, spiritually and physically. The painting shows the front façade of the cathedral, and how the architectural design, Evokes a feeling of spiritual shelter even before the cathedral building has been entered.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
