Artist’s statement
'Growing Up' is based on a series of drawings of buildings along the Belgian coast, where most of my Summer holidays were during childhood. The architecture is so sparse that the sky and colours of sunlight seem to fill it, making the building more of a shell than a home, with the weather moving through it. The theme of Shelter made me think about what constitutes a home; while so much money and time is spent on developing buildings, for many, just being protected from the weather is enough.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
