Sophie Green
Animism
Mixed Stone and Pique assiette Mosaic Plate
Dimensions: Height 36cm, length 61 cm and width 2 cm
Artist’s statement
This work explores shelter as more than a physical structure. The brickwork and enclosing border can suggest the security of walls and boundaries, while the flowers, insects and domestic fragments represent the life, memories and vulnerabilities held within them. Broken and discarded objects have been brought together and given a new place of belonging, reflecting shelter as a space of protection, repair and renewal.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
