121. John Haywood – The first sliver of light at the campsite

£265.00

John Haywood

The first sliver of light at the campsite

Watercolour

Dimensions: 32cm high, 24cm wide, 3cm deep

Artist’s statement

I love my camping! I love how a tent offers a simple shelter, a small space to escape the everyday world and be protected within the landscape. Here, the tent is pitched specifically to be sheltered by the forest and to receive the first light of day. The painting reflects the exhibition’s idea of shelter as more than just protection. To me, a tent represents a fleeting space of refuge, belonging, and connection with the natural world.

All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.

Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.

For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
