Artist’s statement
Painting directly from life away from the familiarity of the studio, initially had the effect of self inflicted unsheltering.
Being in the space, outside, open to the scrutiny of passers-by was at first, unsettling.
Everyone spoke positively, and always they commented on the act of painting. Their interest and kindness was a kind of shelter.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
