Kirsty Latham
Hiding Place
Mild steel sculpture, hand plasma cut
Dimensions: 34 x 33 x 16
Artist’s statement
This sculpture was created as a response to conversations with my 10 year old son. His imagination is vast and he often talks about alternative worlds with characters that imbue other-worldly characteristics. His fantasy worlds exist within smaller landscapes or biomes. From a drawing he made I developed this sculpture showing two of his characters hiding under a shelter from the vast spreading vista and tendrils taking over the biome. The work is a playful take on a child’s imagination.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
