Artist’s statement
When camping we recreate a temporary home. We transport everything we ‘need’ in order to feel safe, comfortable and nourished. Brick walls are replaced by fabric ones, considerably more penetrable, but all the same they make us feel protected and cocooned from the outside. When we dismantle our temporary ‘home’ there is nothing left apart from a yellow tent shaped patch of grass awaiting the next residents. Whereas we choose this activity for some people it’s their only choice.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
