Rachel Mansfield
Fallen Nest
Mixed media - pencil drawing and monoprint
Dimensions: 40cm x 30cm
Artist’s statement
A nest is not necessarily a permanent home, showing that shelter can be something we use for a particular stage of life. This abandoned nest symbolises a place that once provided safety and protection. The nest may be empty but it still carries evidence of the life it once protected. Its woven structure symbolises the effort, patience and care that went into creating a safe place. The shelter remains after those who needed it have moved on, showing that its purpose was fulfilled.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
