Artist’s statement
A dreamscape of fantastical buildings, derived from Spanish hilltop towns, Greek chora, Puglian white cities, with hints of castle turrets, fortifications and secret tunnels but paradoxically open and vulnerable. The painting explores the combination of defensive purpose and art in buildings that cluster people together for protection from invaders, while applying the human concepts of beauty and elegance.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
