JONATHAN MILLWARD

St Leonard’s V-1 Doodlebug Church

Dimensions: 42 x 25

Artist’s statement

This 1961 brutalist Gilbert Bros church replaced an earlier James Burton church after a direct hit from a doodlebug in WW11.
It’s now under threat from the crumbling cliff behind.
So an uncertain shelter under God, man and the environment!
