Borrowed shelter
Digital photograph on matte paper
Dimensions: 42 x 29
Artist’s statement
In Sørvær, Norway, a starling made its nest inside a harbour tyre. Photographed with food in its beak, the bird reveals how an everyday object can become a place of shelter and care.
The tyre serves two kinds of protection: cushioning boats from impact and providing refuge for a nesting bird. This photograph responds to the theme of shelter by showing how wildlife finds a home within the structures we build.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
