Artist’s statement
A woman sits inside a glass building at night. Behind her, outside in the moonlit landscape is a large black dog (perhaps Black Shuck). The woman is focussed on holding a bundle of apple branches, with apples on the floor around her, and an apple tree growing inside the building. It seems as though the viewer has happened upon a ritual of some kind; perhaps the dog is her guardian or has been summoned. He might offer her a sense of shelter, or be something she needs to shelter from.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
