Artist’s statement
If you’re looking for our native wildflowers you might struggle to find them in the countryside. Instead turn your attention to the verges alongside Britain’s road network: roundabouts, slip-roads and litter-strewn lay-bys have become a place of shelter for wild things. The first time I saw a marbled white butterfly was on an industrial estate. It was feeding on oxeye daisies which had seeded in concrete steps. There is huge wildlife potential places like this - if we change our priorities.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
