Nessie Ramm
Hot Food Next Layby (Cuckoo Flower and Orange-tip Butterfly)
framed limited edition screen print
Dimensions: 54 x 41 x 2
Artist’s statement
If you’re looking for our native wildflowers you might struggle to find them in the countryside. Instead turn your attention to the verges alongside Britain’s road network: roundabouts, slip-roads and litter-strewn lay-bys have become a place of shelter for wild things. This print is inspired by a sign advertising a road-side snack bar on the A21. The snack bar provided a welcome refuge and food for people whilst cuckoo-flower nearby did the same for a pair of orange-tip butterflies.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
