Laura Seymour
Mossycoat
Mixed media model
Dimensions: 30cm x 20cm x 22cm
Artist’s statement
This model is inspired by the Anglo-Romani fairy tale of Mossycoat, a tale of sanctuary found through a magical garment a mother sews for her daughter. The magical mossy coat is a powerful symbol of intergenerational sharing of survival strategies and resilience from mother to daughter and a wonderful metaphor for free will, but this piece also represents my own place of safety: stories and the magical world I have been so drawn to throughout my life to help guide me on my own path
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
