The Concious Cave
Enamel on aluminium
Dimensions: 24x36x3cm
Artist’s statement
The Conscious Cave is a painting about consciousness and memory; a place in which to retreat; a sanctuary where I can re-encounter my consciousness of the older or ‘animal’ parts of myself; to remember myself as an animal (a horse), and in turn show how a horse might experience me, shamanistic-ally. In doing so, I paint with the same impulse that allowed cave artists to represent the animals they knew, as peers.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
