Artist’s statement
This artwork is based on a photo of my road that I took on my phone, and I used to see that yellow VW every day when I walked to work. Houses should be shelter, and a lot of times they are, but there's something in the uniformity of London's streets that can, on a dull day, seem closed, and off-putting. The lovely, iconic curved form of a Yellow VW beetle is something different entirely - more fragile than the brick houses, but more organic, more welcoming.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
