Artist’s statement
In this self portrait, I take shelter, curled up in retreat. Seeking refuge in nature and creating self portraits has been key to healing from an eating disorder and repeated burnout. When it was impossible to find shelter in my body, I intensely yearned for rest in nature; to be connected to an ecosystem much larger than myself. With trees towering over me, moss brushing my skin, and mud beneath my feet, I feel part of nature, and my body can soften. The Earth holds me, and keeps me rooted.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
