Artist’s statement
My paintings draw on personal narrative landscapes from my life. Growing up in post-communist Gdansk, family holidays in the forest were our comfort zone, full of awe and freedom. On a return trip, I found rough shelters made of branches, twigs and foliage. Empty, they could be a refuge or a playhouse. I liked this ambiguity, their quiet solitude, and the feelings they evoked of living in exile within immense nature. The paintings ask why the forest brings some comfort and others a shiver.
All purchased artworks must remain in the exhibition until 12pm on 29 November 2026.
Artworks can be collected between 12pm and 6pm on 29 November 2026, or between 10am and 4pm on 30 November 2026.
For every £1 spent with SUSSEX contemporary, 70p goes directly to the artist.
